When Life Gets You Down

Since I was a kid, I was sure of one absolute truth: Life SUCKS.

    It's just unfair, the way it will throw you curve after curve, push you here and there, and the way it will, at times, fool you into thinking, "This isn't so bad!" before crushing all your hopes and dreams once again. I, myself, have been victim to its games for what seems like my whole life, but here's the thing:

I AM NOT A VICTIM.

    What I am is a product of my own design, my own poor decisions, of life itself, because, my friend, that is simply what life is all about. It's something I've realized only quite recently, the way that your struggles may not define you, but they do, indeed, make you. They are a part of your foundation, they build your character, then they tear it down and build it up again. No. It's not fair, but it is the way it is. Life is tiresome. It is pain and suffering, but it is also joy and love and doing everything you can to make it not so sucky; it's about growth and learning from your mistakes to become the best possible version of yourself, and it's also about fulfillment, whatever that may mean to you.

    To me, fulfillment means making the most of my time here. I want to see everything, hear everything, learn everything, and I want to experience every emotion on the spectrum. I want to spend my time with my friends and my family, before I never get the chance again. I want to make my mark, leave something behind so that maybe, just maybe, my name won't be lost to the universe when my time here is done. To you, it may mean something else entirely, and that's okay. Just remember, 

life is going to suck,

so take control. Grab life by its sucky behind and push it, throw it a curve of your own. Refuse to be a victim and take a stand against the tragedies and horrors that come with being alive. Make life not suck.
